The VELUX story began in 1941 when Villum Kann Rasmussen first saw the opportunities that lay beneath the sloping roof, developed the first roof window and thought up a name which is distinctive, easy to say and easy to remember. Many developments in roof windows and skylights, flashings and decoration and sunscreening products have followed and we have taken our business just about everywhere in the world we could find sloping roofs.

We began with manufacturing glass block basement windows, and then developed fresh-air vinyl vents specifically designed for glass block windows. We now produce fully-assembled partition walls; glass block shower kits that include specially designed bases, and our new nail in place CrystaLok® vinyl framed glass block window for new construction applications.
